I ended up on YouTube! Here I am, reading Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn in celebration of Banned Books Week.
This is just some of the work I’ve been doing for the school. Actually I’ve been writing up a storm, first for the student newspaper and then for an educator’s blog. This last one’s a challenge, but fun – reviewing and promoting all the professional development opportunities at my college.
I’ve enjoyed both tremendously and they’re very good for my ego. That took a blow in September when the agent sent a mass email, cleaning out his pending file. It was pretty obvious that nothing was going to come of waiting, but it’s still mildly demoralizing to be let go by an agent who never actually got around to finalizing representation to begin with!
So now I’ve moved on to phase 2 and am submitting my manuscript to those publishers who accept open submissions while researching self-publishing. Also tremendous fun! My latest find – Debora Geary’s Modern Witch series. Featuring vivid characters, they’re both well written and charming. The big six don’t know they’re missing!
