Now that the temperatures finally dropping, it’s time to clean the garden a bit. In Florida, regardless of whatever is recommended, I have to prune twice a year.
The first pruning comes in the spring to gear up for the growing season. The second pruning comes in the fall after the rains when everything has outgrown its beds.
It doesn’t hurt the lantana to be cut back, but other plants will require careful handling. The stevia is overwhelming the lily of the Nile, so once the dahlias lose the last of their leaves, the lilies go in the dahlias’ place and the dahlias go in the central bed.
Of course, this means the central bed has to be expanded just a bit. Once upon a time I worried about being able to fill in the back yard. I don’t know what I was thinking!
So very beautiful!
